Cache Exploration Inc. (TSX-V: CAY) is pleased to announce that in preparation for a summer exploration program, the Company has completed a review of historical data from the Welsford REE Properties as announced March 8 and April 15, 2010. See Seidler, K., 2003. Zircon-Rich Ta-Nb-REE Mineralization In The Radioactive Mckeel Lake Pegmatite-Aplite System, Welsford Igneous Complex, southwestern New Brunswick. B.Sc. thesis, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB. and also Seidler, K., Lentz, D.R., Hall, D.C., and Susak, N., 2005. Zircon-rich Ta-Nb-REE Mineralization in the Radioactive McKeel Lake Pegmatite-Aplite System, Welsford Igneous Complex, Southwestern New Brunswick. Exploration and Mining Geology (Rare-Element Pegmatite Special Issue), v. 15, 79-94. Petrogeochemical studies were conducted on 22 random grab samples from the McKeel Lake dikes that will be a priority REE target on the Welsford rare earth properties. Of these samples, seven were from outcrops, seven were from drill hole No. 1 core, and eight were from drill hole No. 2 core. The samples were categorized as follows: 13 were mineralized aplite I, two were aplite II and seven were host granites. The 13 samples categorized as mineralized aplite I included all seven outcrop samples and six of the 15 drill core samples. Grab samples can be selective in nature and may not reflect the average grade on the property. The following historical Instrumental Neutron Activation Analyses (INAA) results were reported from the 13 mineralised aplite I samples:
These historical results represent concentrations that compare favourably with those found in the richest heavy REE deposits in the world. The Welsford REE properties are on 130 claims that cover the Welsford peralkaline intrusion. These claims grant Cache control over the entire intrusive complex. The Welsford intrusive complex is 20 kilometres north of Saint John, N.B. Historic geological mapping and sampling by Uranerz Exploration Ltd. for uranium in 1980, which were followed by trenching and drilling in early 2000s, have revealed significant Zr-Nb-Y-REE mineralization hosted within peralkalic pegmatite-aplite dike swarms that intrude the Welsford alkaline granite. In the fall of 2009, Dr. David Lentz, economic geology chair at the University of New Brunswick, co-ordinated and oversaw the surficial B horizon soil sampling and analytical program over the Welsford properties. The INAA results of this program revealed many anomalous soil samples with high lanthanum (La), cerium (Ce) and neodymium (Nd), followed by samarium (Sm), europium (Eu), terbium (Tb), ytterbium (Yb) and tantalum (Ta). Cache's geological team, directed by Dr. Lentz, will be completing a second phase exploration program during 2010 that will include further ground stream sediment and soil sampling, prospecting and geological mapping, followed by trenching and drill testing to confirm historical results and search for undiscovered new zones of REE mineralization. The company intends to split and reassay historical drill core by specialized methods for determining REE results. Additional information
